Welcome to Isle of Man

The Isle of Man also known as Mann, is an island nation and self-governing British Crown Dependency in the Irish Sea between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The head of state, Queen Elizabeth II, holds the title Lord of Mann and is represented by a Lieutenant Governor. The United Kingdom is responsible for the isle’s military defence.

Humans have lived on the island since before 6500 BC. Gaelic cultural influence began in the 5th century AD, and the Manx Language, a branch of the Goidelic Languages, emerged.

In 2016, UNESCO awarded the Isle of Man biosphere reserve status. Internationally, the Isle of Man is known for the TT Motorcycle Races, and the Manx Cat, a breed with short or no tails.
